Generating power with solar power business

Starting with the establishment of a solar power facility in the Hamyang factory of LEAPS in 2022, Hankuk Carbon has continuously introduced renewable energy. From the beginning of power generation to October 2023, 627MW of electricity was produced and consumed at four currently built factories.

This is 26% of the average energy reduction rate, which saves 293t of greenhouse gas emissions. Additional solar power facilities will be built in 6 factories by the end of 2023, which will do its best to achieve the goal of reducing 6,493t of carbon emission in 2030.

Hankuk Carbon strives to minimize its environmental impact by improving processes, promoting waste recycling, introducing wastewater-saving technology, and regularly checking the legitimacy of waste treatment processes.

Criteria for Calculating Sales of Eco-friendly Products and Performance

Hankuk Carbon uses eco-friendly materials to prevent environmental pollution and make the product safe for the human body. We are also trying to minimize the environmental impact with ISO 14001 certification to minimize ecological pollutants during production. We are adding ISO 14001-certified premises to continuously expand the ratio of eco-friendly product sales and obtain green technology certification by the Framework Act on 'Low Carbon Green Growth.' We will implement Green Technology, Environmental Product Declaration, etc., in multiple ways to create additional eco-friendly products.

Carbon Emission Reduction Activities
Hankuk Carbon is taking steps to reduce carbon emissions and achieve carbon neutralization through increased use of renewable energy and eco-friendly product development.
Eco-friendly Products Development Activities
Hankuk Carbon focuses on developing products made of eco-friendly materials, supports international environmental regulations with LNG insulation production technology, identifies carbon generation through LCA analysis, and proceeds natural fiber-based eco-friendly composites study continuously.
Reduction of Water Pollutants
Hankuk Carbon safely treats wastewater containing pollutants from the production process through physical/chemical/biological treatment and the absorption of activated carbon. We also observes the strict effluent permit standards through in-house testing.
Reduction of Air Pollutants
Hankuk Carbon uses RTO facilities to reduce the emission of air pollutants up to 99.5%, recycles generated waste heat for energy saving, and strictly observes its standard to minimize the emission concentration.
Chemicals Control
Hankuk Carbon does everything possible to prevent chemical incidents and properly respond to reinforced legislation and social interest. We check MSDS before purchasing chemicals and establish a control system to make workers recognize safety risks. We also prevent chemical incidents with health and safety training and promote and guide safety to residents.
